Steve Weisskopf specializes in a broad-spectrum of business litigation. His expertise includes such matters as class actions, California’s consumer protection statutes, mortgage repurchases, intellectual property, labor and employment, RICO, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, construction defects, and drug and medical device disputes.
Mr. Weisskopf’s litigation experience spans numerous industries including direct response marketing, consumer products and services, health care, diet drugs, video games and toys, entertainment, mortgage, beverages, construction, auto racing, newspaper publishing, and satellite television.
Mr. Weisskopf has successfully managed class actions and other complex multi-party, multi-jurisdictional litigation and has appeared before federal and state courts throughout the country. He has significant experience handling disputes involving California’s consumer protection statutes, namely Business & Professional Code §§ 17200 and 17500 and the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, and has successfully defended numerous matters involving these statutes, many of which resulted in dismissal at the pleadings stage or on summary judgment.
Mr. Weisskopf is a Certified Deputy City Attorney, having completed the TAP Program through the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He periodically first chairs criminal misdemeanor trials for the City Attorney’s Office.
Prior to joining Richards Carrington, LLC, Steve practiced at the Los Angeles firms of Theodora Oringher PC as well as Jones Day.
